Typically located just ahead of a multiple in-feed lane Stewart Switch, the Stewart Systems Brake/Meter Injector Belt consists of two consecutive belts mounted in a single frame.
The first belt in line is the “brake belt” which is a high friction design. The brake belt is commonly used for product hold back, (provided that upstream back-pressure does not exceed reasonable values). The brake/meter section normally runs at about the same speed as your incoming “transport” conveyor. The injector belt normally runs at the same speed as the Stewart Switch.
The second belt in line is the “meter” belt section. The meter belt usually runs at the same speed as the switch. When this belt is working at a higher speed than the brake belt section, it causes a lengthening of the gap to occur at the transfer between the brake section and the meter section.
This combination of brake section and meter section creates the minimum gap between conveyed products in your product stream, required by the Stewart Switch in order to merge or divert products.
Due to the wide range of applications and their specific needs, Stewart Systems offers a Brake/Meter Injector belt as an option for each and every application.
Our high quality construction allows you to choose from various materials, including Stainless Steel, for frame members and either smooth or friction top Intralox 900 and 1400 Series Belting © to provide a long-term solution to your material handling and distribution needs.
